Orto Botanico di Padova

From July 7 to October 24, theBotanical Garden of Padua hosts “Planet Book. The exhibition“a selection of 100 photographs and 100 significant stories taken from the editorial project of the same name, the result of the collaboration between Contrasto and the University of Padua. Proposed for the first time to the general public, the exhibition explores the link with the planet that hosts us and recounts its profound transformations over time.

The photographs, commented by a group of students from the University of Padua, are grouped on the basis of the four elements used by ancient philosophers to understand the world: water, earth, fire and air. The fifth element is us, in all our ambivalence, capable as we are of admirable creative impulses and destructive impulses.

On display, among others: Sebastião Salgado, Bruno Barbey, Jonas Bendiksen, George Steinmetz, Frans Lanting, Thomas Hoepker, Chris Steele-Perkins, Matthew Abbott, Cristina de Middel, Stefano Dal Pozzolo, Ian Berry, Alex Bellini, Francesco Anselmi, Antoine d’Agata, Sim Chi Yin, Jean Gaumy, Paolo Pellegrin, Mikhael Subotzky, Ilaria Magliocchetti Lombi, Akintunde Akinleye.

The exhibition programme includes activities dedicated to children: the route can also be experienced in a more interactive way with quizzes, games and riddles on the themes of science, nature and ecology, created by the Botanical Garden in collaboration with Pleiadi and intended for the public between 6 and 11 years.
